What do you think would be a weight goal that we can set together for you to reach in the next 6 months?

A goal that would be reasonable, achievable, and most important you would be able to maintain long term too?

When asked this question to every single patient on their first day we discuss weight loss, the answer varies widely. Some would say their weight when they were twelve years old, others a number that they were told would be their “ideal weight”, and a lot of times it’s “I don’t really know what my weight goal should be”.

“In medical weight loss, the best goal would be around 10 to 20% below your current weight in 6 months from today”

…and I am always relieved when patients see this as a meaningful target for both their health and personal satisfaction.

By the way, 90% of our patients who do reach that goal are able to keep it off for at least a year! Dr.Moe

Now what do we do?

  1. Lets set a target weight you’d like to reach and write it down
  2. Select a goal by date (circle that month on your calendar)
  3. Visualize yourself at that weight (go ahead close your eyes now and try it)
  4. Lets make it a contract: initials here please!

“It’s only a dream until you write it down, and then it becomes a goal!”
